The Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre aquatic facilities are home to your local Learn to Swim program, powered by Swimming Australia. Learn to Swim is a modern and effective program that focuses on contemporary experiential and activity-based learning techniques.
Inspiring students to explore pathways into competitive and recreational lap swimming. Swimming lessons are conducted by fully trained, accredited, licensed and insured teachers of swimming and water safety.
Our aquatic programs also include competitive squad programs. Offered to children who have graduated from the Junior Dolphins, and to new members of all ages wishing to extend their swimming skills in a swim squad. Our professional coaches provide advanced stroke correction and technique advice so swimmers of all ages can reach their personal goals.
Aquatic birthday parties where are friendly and professional staff organise and supervise the event. Allowing you to relax whilst the children have a blast. Our aquatic facilities are also home to local swim clubs and school swimming carnivals.

The Ian Thorpe Aquatic lap pool is an eight lane 50-metre pool with ‘easy steps’ for assisted entry and hoist. This indoor pool is heated all year round at approximately 26.5°C.
The program pool is used for our swimming and water safety program and gold aqua classes. The pool can be accessed by stairs or the access ramp and aqua wheelchairs are available for use. It is available at certain times for access by the general public and is heated to 32°C.
Please note: The program pool is not available for public swimming during the below times due to Learn to Swim classes (excludes school holidays).
The leisure swimming pool is available for recreational swimming at all times and is equipped with a spa, water fountain and bubbles for fun and interactive play. It is a great pool for the whole family to enjoy. This indoor pool is heated to approximately 30°C.
The Ian Thorpe Aquatic and Fitness Centre has a sauna (dry heat), which is heated to between 70°C - 90°C. Steam room (wet heat) heated above 41°C with a humidity of around 100%. The sauna and steam room are open from 6:00am until 9:00pm.
