Swim squads

The squad program runs across three locations, including Cook + Phillip Park Pool, Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre and Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.

Non-Competitive Squad levels

  • Our non-competitive levels are designed to help improve fitness levels and technique in all 4 strokes.

  • Swimfit is a non-competitive fitness program designed for swimmers who want to develop their fitness level. Swimmers will generally swim between 1,500m and 3,000m per session.

Competitive Squad levels

  • Our first competitive level will help swimmers improve training skills and racing skills in the 4 main swimming strokes and medley events. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 2-3 sessions per week and race at the monthly club race nights and development meets.

  • Swimmers must demonstrate a proven record of competitive swimming in the area, metropolitan and state level. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 4-6 sessions per week, with a minimum of 1 weekday morning session per week. Swimmers are encouraged to compete in the monthly club race nights and interclub competitions.

  • Swimmers must show an extensive history of competitive swimming at both metropolitan and state levels. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 6-8 sessions per week, with afternoon and morning sessions spread across multiple pools. All swimmers must compete in the monthly club race nights, area, metropolitan and state competitions.

  • This is the highest level of our squad program. Swimmers must be qualified for the Australian Swimming Championships (Age or Open) and/or Top 10 at Nationals Open Water. Minimum ages include 13 for girls and 14 for boys. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 7-8 sessions per week, including 2-3 gym sessions, with morning and afternoon sessions spread across multiple pools. Swimmers must attend all targeted meets, including area, metropolitan, state, national and open water competitions.
