Sauna and Steam Room Reopening

Attention customers,

Following the easing of restrictions, the the Sauna and Steam room will re-open at 3pm today (17 May, 2021).

The Sauna and Steam Room will recommence operating daily, between 9am and 7pm, with a closure for cleaning between 2pm-3pm.

Sauna and Steam room re-opening conditions of use

  • All patrons using sauna or steam room must be wearing a wristband from reception.
  • An appropriately-sized towel (must cover all areas of seating) is required for use.
  • Customers must shower before use of the sauna and steam room.
  • Maximum capacity of 6 people in the steam room, and 4 in the sauna at any time.
  • Customers must exit the sauna or steam room after a 15 minute session and allow for others to use the amenities. You must then wait until a spot is available again.
  • To ensure safety, customers are encouraged not to use the sauna or steam room for longer than a total of 30 mins.
  • The sauna and steam room will be closed for cleaning between 2pm - 3pm daily.
  • Lifeguards will conduct regular checks to enforce these rules. Anyone not following these rules will be asked to leave the facilities.

Please wear a mask when visiting our aquatic centres

As per State Government directive, from 5pm today (Thursday 6th May), the following COVID restrictions will be in place for the Greater Sydney region including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains:

  • Masks are mandatory in all public indoor settings, including public transport. This means you must wear a mask when visiting our centres, unless undertaking strenuous physical activity.
  • No more than 20 guests (including children) are allowed in your home.
  • There will also be no singing or dancing in indoor venues, including places of worship and entertainment venues. Weddings will be exempt, as will dancers or singers who are performers in a show

These restrictions are in place until 12:01am on Monday 10 May, when the State Government will revise these restrictions.

How do these restrictions impact my visit?

You will not notice any major changes to our facilities or programs, we ask that you please follow state requirements and wear a face mask at all times when visiting the centre.

When can I remove my face mask?

Face masks must be worn at all times when inside our centres, unless you are undertaking strenuous physical activity (such as running on a treadmill or where you are breathing heavy), if you are in the pool or eating/drinking. You must carry a face mask with you at all times.

If you have even the mildest symptoms, such as headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat or runny nose to please get tested.

Terms and conditions

  • All customers attending Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre are required to check-in using the Service NSW app.
  • If attending a class, particularly non-members, please arrive 15mins early to ensure check-in can be completed prior to your class.
  • Free entry is available for access to gym only. Entry into aquatic facilities will incur the regular casual entry fee.
  • Access to select group fitness classes will be free for non-members, permitting availability spot in the class. This offer does not include aqua aerobics.
  • Non members can secure a spot in a fitness class over the phone or in-centre.

Introducing our brand new, online customer portal – servicing all City of Sydney Leisure Centres.

You can now manage all aspects of your membership online. Book a group fitness class, a swimming lesson, check lane availabilities and update your payment details from any device.

LOG-IN NOW

How to set up your customer portal account:

  • Click on the button of the centre where you hold your membership
  • Your username will be the email address you signed up with
  • Your password will need to be updated. Click forgot / username password, and follow the steps to re-set. You will need your email address for this step.
  • Once your password is re-set, you can log-in to your account dashboard and manage your membership
  • Make sure you bookmark your account dashboard to easily book into group fitness classes, update personal details and manage all aspects of your membership

Update to Leisure Centre opening hours in 2021

City of Sydney Leisure Centres will be extending their opening hours in 2021.

Commencing Monday 25 January, all Leisure Centres, including Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool, Cook and Phillip Park Pool and Fitness Centre, Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Prince Alfred Park Pool and Victoria Park Pool, will open until 8pm, daily*.

The current operating hours for the Gyms at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Cook + Phillip Park Fitness Centre and Victoria Park Pool will remain in place. Which include;

  • Weekdays: 6am – 8pm
  • Weekends: 7am – 4pm

Please note due to the public holiday on Tuesday 26 January, all Leisure Centres will revert to public holiday operating hours, 7am – 7pm.

Other important changes to programming to be aware of;

  • There are no changes to the operating hours of the Hydrotherapy Pool at Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre
  • There are no changes to the operating hours of the Program pools at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool, Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre and Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centres
  • Swimming lessons will be running on Monday 25 January.
  • There will be no swimming lessons on Tuesday 26 January, due to the public holiday
  • There will be no Group Fitness Classes running on Tuesday 26 January, due to the public holiday
  • Swimfit at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre will commence at 6pm on Monday 25 January
  • Swimfit will not run on Tuesday 26 January, due to the public holiday
  • Smifit will revert to a 6:30pm start as of Wednesday 27 January from here onwards
